Treats from the East

While I have not had the chance to travel east of Europe personally, my wonderful sister-in-law has. We got to see her this weekend and she adorned us with fun gifts from her time in Singapore, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Kambodia, and so on! If you’re ever traveling that way, you should check out her blog to get a great idea of what to expect and what to do.

I have to flaunt my gifts as they were all so fun…and tasty!

The most WONDERFUL coffee ever! And you just stir it into 150 milliliters of hot water (0.63 cups, that is).

Green tea in a HUGE wheel. It could pass for an illegal, smokeable plant by the looks of it…but the smell is that of the best green tea I’ve ever sniffed! Mmmm!

Chop sticks! I think we should all use chop sticks from time-to-time to slow down the pace at which we eat and enable ourselves to truly enjoy the flavor and ambiance of meal times.

Coconut jam. Yep, she knows me and my love for all things coconut! It is DIVINE!!

Purple Tea Egg Spices…can’t wait to try this! You boil eggs with these spices and it smells delicious!

Chinese Diabetes Cookbook! If and when I locate some of these ingredients, I’ll be cooking up a storm! It was interesting to read what the nutritionist talked about as far as diabetes and diet. Rest assured, she’s legit 😉

And she also got me a gorgeous pink pashmina. I looove it! Thanks, Michelle!!! 😀

Question: Have you ever tried to eat with chop sticks? If so, how did you do?

I have tried numerous times to eat certain foods with a chopstick and it never works for me. I am horrible at it! I need to practice more I guess.

  2. I always try to eat with chopsticks when they’re available. I’m pretty decent at it (the food makes it to my mouth and that’s all that matters).
I like that it slows down my eating time too.

  3. What cool gifts!! Lovely!

  4. I could never use chopsticks up until recently, we went to In The Raw and I just started using them! I couldn’t believe that I could do it! By the time we were done eating I had mastered eating rice, chicken and edamame! It was awesome!

  5. Don’t think I’ve ever tried to eat with chopsticks. Thinking I may never eat if I did 🙂

  6. I’m awful with chopsticks! The only thing I can eat with chopsticks is sushi 🙂

  7. I eat sushi with chopsticks and I”m usually pretty good even though I don’t hold them properly. 🙂

    Coconut jam? That sounds amazing!!

Im a pro when it comes to eating with chopsticks. When I was little we used to go to this Japanese restaurant all the time, so I got lots of practice!

  9. oh wow wonderful gifts….your so lucky

  10. That looks like instant coffee that actually tastes GOOD! What a concept! I used to drink instant coffee in college when I was in a hurry. Yuck, so gross. But that one looks yummy.

I do enjoy using chopsticks because it helps me slow down when I eat. I actually bring them home whenever I get some and then I use them at home for a while!! haha, it does help me, although Nick makes fun (as he SCARFS down his food.)

  11. Love the huge thing of green tea! I agree that we should use chopsticks because they truly can help people slow down and consciously eat their food. My would dad use them almost every night, and he was pretty much always the last one still eating. I’m not the best with them, but I think they’re fun!

  12. So fun! I love Asian culture and trying new things. Can’t wait to see what you make 🙂

  13. What a nice sister-in-law! Those gifts are great, especially the huge thing of green tea. I’m so-so with chopsticks. I can pick up most things, but rice is tricky.

Glad you enjoyed! The only thing you’re missing is a picture of mark in one of his shirts 🙂

  15. Looks like your sister had a wonderful trip and definitely hooked you up with some awesome goodies!

  16. A Chinese Diabetes Cookbook?! Awesome!! The only thing I can eat with chopsticks is sushi. Forget noodles or anything else, haha! 😉

Ugh, I am so bad at eating with chopsticks. I use a rubber band if I have too LOL how embarrassing 😛

  18. I love eating with chopsticks. You’re right, you eat slower. I find I eat less, which has probably been a big contributor to my weight loss here. Asian food – gotta go for the chopsticks.
